I then simply replaced my password in the outlook Internet E-Mail popup window with this generated key and voila! hundreds of older email messages started syncing again. I was finally able to fix this issue after logging in to my myAT&T account and generating what is called a Secured Mail Key. My Outlook 2013 stopped communicating with the servers for some years now, even though I too had the correct setting/info inputted for both inbound/ outbound servers. I know this thread is relatively old by now, but I wanted to post a solution here in case anyone arrives here with the same issue. This helps other members find answers quickly. BELLSOUTH EMAIL SETTINGS FOR OUTLOOK 2016 HOW TO
I personally use outlook myself, and except for how to properly format my account name, have never had any problem with it downloading my e-mail. If you are following them exactly, and they are still not working, then going to the support forum for the program is the next place to look. The support page links on ATT specifically cover how to enter the settings into the outlook mail client. The simple truth is, if you tried using all the settings provided, and they do not function for you, it is more likly, you are having an issue with your program itself, and might need to look on the forums page on microsoft/windows/outlook, to see if anyone can give you more specific help.

(With the exception of folks clearly marked employees, of course.) You do realize the folks posting on this thread are in fact other att customers and not att employees or support staff.
